Where Grade 7 words go wrong

Double letters: onmiddellik has a double d and a double l, and veroorsaak has a double o and a double a. Say these words slowly and count the letters together.

Marks: beรฏnvloed has two dots on the i. They tell you to say be and in separately, not as the ei sound in klein. Without the dots, the word is wrong.

Endings: -lik sounds like โ€œlukโ€, and -heid sounds a lot like the English word hate. Learn each ending once, as a block, and every word that uses it gets easier.

Practise like a test

At this age, the best practice looks like the real test. Your child hears the word, types it without looking, and checks. Words they miss come back until they are right. Five minutes a day through the week beats an hour the night before.
